Hello! I’m Sue – Welcome to malden and wilde
I am not your conventional florist. I work from home, I’m self taught – and I specialise in silk flowers. My style is gentle and natural – think country chic and rustic – rich in flowers and rich in meaning.
From my earliest memories of creating shell dolls, to crafting for my Etsy shop, it’s been a lifelong rollercoaster of experimenting, making mistakes and learning. Today, I am thrilled and incredibly proud to be able to bring you lasting beauty and pleasure through exquisite fine silk flowers.
So why silk flowers?
- Silk flowers are ultra-realistic and ecologically sustainable. Manufacturing processes have advanced far beyond the days of plastic roses. (You know the ones – you used to see them in greasy-spoon cafes and in graveyards. Ghastly!) The trend now is for ultra-realism – so you would need to look very closely to be sure they are actually artificial. Single use plastics are being used less and less, with new biogradeable and eco-friendly fabrics being used.
- Colours are vibrant with depth and beauty, and with a large variety of different shades.
- Affordability: Top quality silk flowers are not inexpensive. However, they can last, and retain their beauty, for decades. Taking care of them is simple and minimal and they will continue to give you pleasure long after fresh flowers are a distant memory.
- Versatile: Silk flowers can be blended with fresh or preserved foliage, and can be reused and repurposed to create a fresh look.
So many people suffer from allergies and can’t have fresh flowers near them. That’s where I come in.
Or you want baskets or window boxes for your business but haven’t time for the upkeep of fresh flowers and plants. That’s where I come in.
And maybe you love having flowers in the house, but you are often away for work, and they’re always horrid and dead when you get home. That’s where I come in.
As lovely as they are, fresh flowers will not last much more than a week or two. For any keepsake arrangements, from your wedding or a memorial arrangement, silk flowers are the answer.
