In this blog, I’ll take you through some of my favourites. Plus tips and ideas about how you can achieve your own favourite vibe.

An interesting fusion of old and new, with old patterns and materials being used in a fresh way. Herringbone designs are popular in flooring and in brick tiling on walls. Origins: The Roman Empire (Surprising, huh? Not just a flash back to the parquet flooring which was the norm in the 1970s. What goes around ….)

Hand made artisan tiles, like zellige tiles, have been found in ancient Morocco. Used in a modern kitchen or bathroom, they have a beautiful rustic look that is, nevertheless, classy.

Home decor trends for 2024 include enduring neutrals, with rich browns and beiges for warmth and comfort.  Maximalist bold colours, like pillar box red, vibrant blues and greens have been ‘neutralised’ to give a warmer, softer effect.

Benjamin Moore Paint Company has declared their Colour of the Year – Blue Nova.  A stunning blue violet shade with warmth and depth, that will coordinate beautifully with accessories of any shade and vibrancy.

By contrast, Sherwin-Williams have a lighter, softer blue called Upwards, described as ‘denim blue with calm gray undertones’. This is more on the minimalist side but moving away from the cool, sparce style to comfort and warmth. Think of the coastal grandmother style from last year – perfect fit and timeless
