Trends suggest that couples are looking for that relaxed rustic feel. Moving away from the glitz towards what is meaningful for them. Discover your magical woodland wedding that will have romance and beauty that cannot be matched!
I am so excited to share with you the most amazing styled photoshoot. It showcases just how beautiful your woodland wedding can be.
The legacy of Covid (I promise not to mention it again!) means that smaller, more intimate weddings are gaining in popularity – with perhaps a big party on the first wedding anniversary. And let’s not forget elopements – leaving the stress and worry about guest management and ballooning costs behind. Sometimes simple is simply perfect!
The Venue
Moggerhanger Park is a unique venue in the heart of Bedfordshire. Originally a family home from the 1700s, it was a TB isolation hospital from 1914 to 1987. Now it has been redeveloped and lovingly restored to be a really beautiful wedding venue, with a walled garden. All the furniture is antique and the house itself has almost a Mediterranean feel. And of course, the woodland walk has dreamy romantic spots for photos, and sweet confirmation of your vows.
Getting Ready
The bride’s hair and make up were done in the Library. A comfortable room with light streaming in from the huge windows that look over the lawn. (Links to these talented artists are at the end.)
The Ceremony and Decor
The Chapel is at the top of the House and used to be a boudoir for the Lady of the House. It is licensed for religious ceremonies. The beautiful graceful staircase can be dressed with flowers. Or left simple and elegant (which is what we did). Your choice. The banqueting room can also be decorated to your style and scheme.
The Flowers
Experiencing the beauty of silk flowers!
For the bouquet I chose orange alstroemeria and gerberas for a vibrant pop of colour, with huge blousy red poppies, and peach roses. Wheat and autumn foliage completed the look. Free flowing, natural and warm. The bride had a soft peach crown of hydrangeas and tiny roses with wheat. And for the groom, a classic buttonhole that I popped into his pocket as the corsage pin refused to do what I wanted (I didn’t want to bleed all over his beautiful suit! There is always a solution to these minor challenges.)
Heard of a broken arch?
Think two columns of flowers and foliage that don’t quite meet at the top. These are incredibly versatile as they can be easily placed and moved. To frame a doorway, or the couple for photos or to highlight the cake or any other feature. Peach and red roses, hydrangeas and peonies nestle among lush greenery, ivy and grasses.
The Cake
Parul, our cake maker, had an elegant three tier cake that she then decorated in two different ways. One with a topper that I made to match the bouquet flowers, and the other with her own take on a woodland theme. The results are both stunning. (You’ll find her link at the end)
The Woodland
How romantic are these photos! Imagine standing where the sunlight shines softly through the trees as you both say your vows. Wonderful.
